Rhodolite garnet:
The word ‘garnet’ derives from the Latin ‘granatium’, meaning pomegranate, a bright red fruit. Garnets form a family of minerals comprising several varieties that share a similar crystalline structure. They come in a wide range of colours: green, red, orange, pink, yellow, brown, black… This pendant is made from rhodolite garnet, a pink variety of this mineral. Garnets are often transparent to translucent. Their hardness and transparency make them ideal stones for jewellery.
The main sources of garnets are: Brazil, India, Sri Lanka, Africa, Australia and Russia
