Citrine:
The name ‘citrine’ comes from the Latin ‘citrus’, referring to its yellow colour.
Citrine is a variety of quartz. Citrine’s yellow to orange colour is generally due to traces of iron inclusions.
Its hue can range from pale yellow to deep amber. The most valuable citrines are those with the brightest colours.
Citrine is generally transparent to translucent. It can be found alongside amethyst and other varieties of quartz.
Brazil, in particular, is renowned for the quality of its citrines.
The main citrine deposits are in Brazil, Madagascar and Russia.
