This is a mechanical process during which the raw stones are polished.

The minerals are usually placed in a rotating drum containing water and an abrasive. This process takes around ten days.

As the stones rub against one another, they become polished into pebble-like shapes.

Strawberry quartz:

Strawberry quartz is a variety of crystalline quartz that takes its name from its strawberry-like colour.

The origin of the word ‘quartz’ is uncertain.

One theory suggests it may derive from the term ‘quaterz’ or ‘quaderz’, which, until the 16th century, referred to lower-quality ores.

Another theory suggests that it is a contraction of the German word ‘gewärz’, meaning ‘growth’ or ‘sprout’.

Fine inclusions of iron oxide or goethite fibres within the crystalline structure of the quartz are responsible for the distinctive colouring of strawberry quartz.

The main deposits of strawberry quartz: this mineral is relatively rare. However, it can be found in small quantities in quartz deposits.
