The colour of smoky quartz results from the quartz being exposed to natural radiation from the earth over time.
Smoky quartz can vary in colour, ranging from light brown to deep black.
It may also contain natural inclusions, such as veins of black tourmaline or rutile crystals.
The main sources of smoky quartz are Brazil, the United States, Madagascar – and it can even be found in Switzerland!
