Did you know? Its name comes from the Greek word ‘rhodon’, meaning ‘rose’. However, it is rare for it to be entirely this colour: it usually contains black or brown inclusions. Rhodonite was first described in Russia in the early 19th century. Blocks of rhodonite weighing almost 50 tonnes have been found in the Urals. This stone is popular with the nobility: the House of Fabergé uses it in several of its creations, and many ornaments are made from rhodonite. The chemical composition of rhodonite consists mainly of manganese silicate, silica, oxygen and iron. It is often associated with other minerals such as quartz, calcite and manganese. Its main deposits are found in Brazil, Australia, France, the United States and Russia. 

The Pi or Bi disc (in Chinese, 璧) originates from Chinese culture. It is a ring whose origins date back to the Neolithic period and which was mainly carved from jade. This disc symbolises the perfection of Heaven, in contrast to the square, which represents the Earth. A symbol of high social status and a protective amulet, it embodies nobility and harmony. It was also used as a ritual and funerary object. Even today, the Pi disc is believed to have the power to harmonise energies and bring serenity. Each stone is unique, which is why the stone you receive may differ from those shown in the photograph. These fire agate Pi discs do not display iridescence.

Care instructions:

• Store your jewellery in a dry place, away from light and heat.
• Rhodonite is quite soft, so please ensure you store it in an individual fabric pouch.
• Although it is porous, it can be briefly rinsed under water provided it is dried immediately afterwards.
• As it is sensitive to cosmetics, we recommend applying your perfume before putting on the jewellery.
• Avoid contact with chemicals and acids.
