Description
Rhodonite pebble
Tumbled stones:
Our collection of tumbled stones includes a wide variety of minerals. Each offers a unique range of colours, patterns and textures that reflect the Earth’s mineral diversity.
Tumbled stones are pieces of raw mineral that have been carefully shaped by human hands.
This is a mechanical process during which the raw stones are polished.
The minerals are usually placed in a rotating drum containing water and an abrasive. This process takes around ten days.
As the stones rub against one another, they become polished into pebble-like shapes.
Whether for meditation, interior decoration or to expand your mineral collection, you’re sure to find something to your liking in our online shop.
Rhodonite:
Its name comes from the Greek word ‘rhodon’, meaning ‘rose’. However, it is rarely completely pink. It often contains black or brown inclusions.
Rhodonite was first described in Russia in the early 19th century.
Rhodonite forms in metamorphic deposits where changes in temperature and pressure have altered pre-existing minerals to create this gemstone.
It is often found alongside other minerals such as quartz, calcite and manganese.
The chemical composition of rhodonite consists mainly of manganese silicate, silica, oxygen and iron.
The main rhodonite deposits are found in Brazil, Australia, France, the United States, Russia and Sweden.
