Rhodolite garnet:
The word ‘garnet’ derives from the Latin ‘granatium’, meaning pomegranate, a bright red fruit. Garnets form a family of minerals comprising several varieties that share a similar crystalline structure. They come in many colours: green, red, orange, pink, yellow, brown, black… This pendant is made from rhodolite garnet, a pink variety of this mineral. Garnets are often transparent to translucent. Their hardness and transparency make them ideal stones for jewellery.
The main garnet deposits are found in Brazil, India, Sri Lanka, Africa, Australia and Russia
