Tiger’s eye:
Tiger’s eye is a variety of microcrystalline quartz, known for its distinctive sheen that resembles the gleam of a tiger’s eye. This gemstone typically features bands or patterns of iridescent colours ranging from golden brown to yellow. Its formation begins with crocidolite, a fibrous blue mineral which is also one of the basic components of falcon’s eye.

Falcon’s eye:
Falcon’s eye takes its name from the bird of the same name. Falcon’s eye is a variety of quartz that displays iridescent reflections due to inclusions of amphibole fibres, primarily crocidolite. These fibres form perpendicular to the surfaces of the quartz crystals, creating a distinctive visual effect. Hawk’s eye is formed when crocidolite undergoes a process of silicification. Over time, the amphibole fibres are transformed into quartz whilst retaining their orientation, giving rise to its characteristic sheen.
The main deposits of hawk’s eye are found in Australia, South Africa, the United States and Brazil.
