Unakite:
The name ‘unakite’ comes from the place where it was first discovered, near the town of Unaka in the mountains of North Carolina in the United States.
It is characterised by its colours, which blend shades of olive green, pink and cream.
Unakite is formed by the combination of two main minerals, epidote and feldspar, usually pink feldspar and green epidote. It is often mistaken for jasper, but it is in fact a type of granite.
It is a stone composed of potassium, aluminium and calcium silicate. The main deposits of unakite are found in the United States, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
