Pistachio opal:
Pistachio opal is a common green-coloured opal. The word ‘opal’ derives from the Sanskrit ‘upala’, meaning ‘precious stone’. Unlike noble opals, they rarely, if ever, display iridescence. They often appear white or milky in colour, but can also display a range of colours: green, pink, blue, yellow, and so on. Common opals are more widespread than noble opals and are found in many regions around the world. They often form in rock cavities or fissures where silica-rich water flows and is slowly deposited. The main deposits of common opals are found in the United States, Mexico, Peru and Ethiopia.
