The name ‘apatite’ comes from Ancient Greek. It is derived from the word ‘apataneo’, which means ‘to deceive’ or ‘to mislead’. Apatite was given this name because it is easily mistaken for other stones of the same colour. It forms in a variety of geological environments. Gems most often form in igneous rocks as they cool. Blue apatite is generally a fluorapatite, rich in fluorine. Its main deposits are found in Brazil, Madagascar, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The blue colour is often due to impurities or the presence of rare-earth elements (such as neodymium or cerium) that become incorporated during its formation. In its raw state, blue apatite may have greenish tints or appear slightly dark. It is common for apatite to be heat-treated. Heat treatment helps to clarify the colour and make its blue hue more intense. Treated stones are, however, still considered natural.
In crystal healing, apatite is associated with the throat chakra and is said to promote communication, helping shy people to speak up in groups with greater confidence. It is also said to regulate emotional excesses and bring greater mental clarity, whilst instilling energy, optimism and vitality in people going through periods of anxiety.

Apatite Bracelet FAQ
Will the bracelet I receive look exactly like the one in the photo?
Our bracelets are made exclusively with natural blue apatite beads. As nature never creates two identical stones, your piece of jewellery will be unique: variations in colour, reflections and marbling give every bracelet its own individual appearance. However, the characteristic electric-blue intensity of apatite remains the same!
How can I tell whether it is genuine apatite?
Natural blue apatite can be recognised by its slightly irregular appearance: its blue colour is never completely uniform. When examined closely, it should display variations in shade, fine internal growth lines or small white inclusions. The stone also feels cool upon first contact with the skin, unlike imitations made from plastic or resin.
What benefits are associated with a blue apatite bracelet?
On an emotional level, blue apatite is believed to help overcome shyness, soothe overwhelming emotions and strengthen self-confidence. On a physical level, it is traditionally associated with regulating appetite and supporting the skeletal system. Spiritually, it is said to open the mind and encourage the development of intuition.
Which zodiac signs are associated with apatite?
Blue apatite has a particular affinity with Gemini, Libra, Sagittarius and Pisces. It is believed to help Air signs (Gemini and Libra) organise their thoughts and communicate clearly, while supporting Water and Fire signs (Pisces and Sagittarius) in channelling their emotions and developing their creativity. Nevertheless, it is suitable for all zodiac signs and anyone who feels the need to express themselves.
How should I clean and energetically cleanse my blue apatite bracelet?
Apatite is a delicate stone: briefly rinsing it under cold water is the best way to discharge its energy. Never use salt water or place it directly on salt, as this may alter its chemical structure and damage the stone. Alternatively, you can energetically cleanse it using a Flower of Life or by smudging it with white sage.

About apatite
A rather mysterious stone, apatite owes the etymology of its name to its ability to deceive the eye: it is easily mistaken for sapphire or aquamarine, as their bluish hues can be so similar. Today, it is mainly mined in Brazil and Madagascar. Fun fact: our bodies produce a form of apatite, which can be found in our tooth enamel, our bones and the pineal gland. In crystal healing, it is renowned for opening the way to communication; it is also the stone of choice for those seeking optimism and vitality!
