- Chalcedony is not affected by water. However, it is best not to wear your stone at the beach or in the swimming pool

Blue chalcedony:
Blue chalcedony is a variety of microcrystalline quartz, composed mainly of silicon dioxide, just like carnelian. Blue chalcedony displays a colour palette ranging from light blue to pastel blue. Its colour may be due to the presence of traces of elements such as iron. Blue chalcedony crystals form in cavities or fissures within rock, often associated with water-related geological processes. The name ‘chalcedony’ derives from the name of an ancient Greek city called Chalcedon, situated on the Sea of Marmara. It was regarded as a gemstone and symbolised gentleness and modesty. The main deposits of blue chalcedony are found in Namibia, Brazil, India, Mexico and the United States.
