Ruby on zoisite:
The name ‘ruby on zoisite’ comes from the combination of ruby, for its characteristic red colour (from the Latin ‘rubeus’), and zoisite, the mineral in which it is often found.
It is a stone composed of ruby crystals within a zoisite matrix. This combination creates a captivating contrast between the ruby red – usually arranged in nodules – and the vivid green of the zoisite.
Ruby-on-zoisite is the result of a complex geological process in which ruby crystals form within zoisite, a calcium and aluminium silicate.
